The Hill Country SPCA's story is one of heartfelt dedication to the animals of our community. Chartered in October 1997 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the dream of a dedicated shelter began to take shape. That dream became a reality in 2003, thanks to the incredible generosity of Ed and Trudy Brune. Recognizing Trudy's lifelong passion for animals, they generously underwrote the construction of a new shelter, a place where compassion and care could truly flourish.
Construction commenced in 2004, and in September 2005, the animals and dedicated staff finally moved into their beautiful new home. The grand opening of the Trudy Brune Hill Country SPCA shelter in January 2006 marked a momentous occasion, a testament to the power of community and the unwavering commitment to animal welfare.
At the heart of the Hill Country SPCA lies a profound mission: to provide the best possible life for every pet in the Hill Country. This is achieved through a multi-faceted approach, encompassing successful rescue and adoption programs, strong community partnerships, raising awareness about animal welfare, and advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves.
We envision a Hill Country where every pet is safe, comfortable, and loved in a forever home. Our ultimate goal is a community free from pet overpopulation, where every animal has the chance to thrive. We strive to create a world where compassion reigns, and the bond between humans and animals is celebrated and cherished.
